Virginia lawmakers have returned to Richmond for session, and they say it's been a busy couple of weeks.

Del. Terry Kilgore and Sen. Todd Pillion held a brief media availability Monday afternoon, giving an update on where different pieces of legislation and priorities stand.

Sen. Pillion says he is working with a commission focused on artificial intelligence, or AI.

"Obviously, artificial intelligence is moving forward whether we want to be part of it or not," said Pillion. "There definitely are some parameters that the Virginia General Assembly needs to be looking at and how it effects anything from elections to education. We are putting a team together to tackle that."

Kilgore and Pillion say the budget recently proposed by Gov. Glenn Youngkin will also be a big talking point for lawmakers in the coming weeks.
